Het boek begint behoorlijk abrupt, maar gelukkig wordt het al vrij snel een volgbaar verhaal. De eerste helft is erg traag, maar vanaf het begin van het einde komt er langzaam maar zeker iets meer spanning c.q. snelheid in het verhaal. De laatste honderd pagina's waren echter de enige die ik echt vol spanning heb zitten lezen. Op zich is het wel een best leuk boek, het was alleen vervelend dat ik van school de opdracht had gekregen om uiterlijk 4 oktober een verslag af te hebben. Dit maakte het op een bepaalde manier minder leuk om te lezen, maar aan het einde, de laatste 200 pagina's ofzo, kreeg ik er toch wel weer meer zin in, omdat er toen eindelijk een beetje spanning en vaart in het verhaal verschenen.

Er zijn best wel wat filosofische, psychologische, religieuze en politieke aspecten in het boek te herkennen.
