I found a lot of the later section of Hyperion and the earlier section of this book to be a bit of a slog, but it sticks the landing so well in the end that I can’t even be mad. Unclear if my about-face while reading is related to me picking up John Keats’ Hyperion partway through.
Il modo in cui le storie del primo libro si sono intrecciate in questo finale mi è molto piaciuto. Il primo libro mette le pistole di Checov sul tavolo e tutte quante sparano (l'unico difetto). Bellissima l'idea di base: ci sono tecnologie i cui rischi sono impersonabili e la regressione può essere l'unica soluzione.

The first third of the book is somewhat boring, I often felt a little disoriented. However, the rest of the book really delivers. Many questions from the first book are answered, thankfully many are also still left open. As opposed to the supernatural themes of the first book, this one is more about political intrigue/conspiracies. Still very well executed.
