A very American book, to the point where I'm puzzled why this was even (badly) translated into Swedish. Both in the sense that it explicitly deals with the US healthcare system (with others mostly reduced to a few personal anecdotes), and in the way it keeps coming back to the good ol' keywords about liberty and founding fathers and yada yada, but also in how damn individualistic it is; while Snyder offers a lot of sources at the end, there's almost something reluctant to them; he wants the reader to see this as a personal story, rising from one man's anger at his brushes with both near-deadly conditions and the covid epidemic and how poorly they were handled, and even though he argues at length for caring about each other, there are no voices but Snyder's own here. And as well-read as he clearly is, and as well-meaning his goal is, it comes across just a little too much at times like listening to that one cab driver who has figured everything out.
