Björn recenserade Lapvona av Ottessa Moshfegh

The least impressive Moshfegh I've read so far. A dark fairytale where people do horrible things to each other seemingly out just because it never occurs to them not to; Moshfegh relishes the dark bits, but a little too often fails to tie them into any character work that actually makes them more than just torturers and torturees. Sure, after the last few years in the US, I can get why you'd want to write a story about an infantile ruler ruining people's lives just because he can't understand why he wouldn't, and Moshfegh certainly has imagination to spare. But 320 pages should go somewhere.
Känns, på gott och ont, som något som skulle getts ut på Vertigo om hon var svensk.
